Add Your First Collection Item
Adding an item to Relic Roster takes a few minutes. The more detail you include upfront, the more useful your collection record becomes over time.
Start with the item basics
From your collection dashboard or collection page, select Add Item to open the item entry form. Begin by choosing a category and filling in the core details.

Choose a category
Select the item type: Sports Card, Jersey, Autograph, Memorabilia, or another applicable category. This determines which fields are available.

Enter the item name
Use a clear, descriptive name, for example '2003 Topps Chrome LeBron James Rookie #111' or 'Wayne Gretzky Signed Puck'. A precise name makes search and filtering easier.

Fill in the core fields
Complete the remaining details: Athlete Name, Team, Year, Sport, Condition, and Storage Location. The more fields you fill in, the more useful filtering and valuation become.
Collector Tip
Accurate condition grading matters for valuation. Use the standard scale your items are graded to (Raw, PSA/BGS/SGC numeric grades, or your own condition descriptor), and apply it consistently across your collection.
Add photos
Photos are one of the most valuable parts of a collection record. They document condition, confirm authenticity, and serve as visual evidence for insurance purposes.

Upload from your device
Select one or more photos from your camera roll or file system. JPEG and PNG formats are supported.

Photograph multiple angles
For cards: front and back. For jerseys and memorabilia: front, back, and any authentication tags or holograms. For autographed items: the full item and a close-up of the signature.

Use good lighting
Natural light or a lightbox reduces glare on glossy surfaces. Clear, well-lit photos make condition assessments easier and records more credible.
Collector Tip
Photograph items before they go into storage. Trying to retrieve and re-photograph an entire collection later is time-consuming. A few extra minutes at entry pays off.
Add value and purchase details
Recording what you paid and what an item is currently worth gives you a reliable baseline for tracking collection growth over time.

Enter the purchase price
Record what you paid, including any buyer's premiums or shipping costs. This becomes your cost basis for calculating collection ROI.

Enter an estimated current value
Add a market value estimate based on recent comparable sales. Relic Roster uses this figure in your collection value totals.

Record the acquisition date
The date you acquired the item gives your collection history a timeline and makes insurance documentation more complete.
Add authentication or grading details
If your item has been professionally graded or authenticated, record that information here. It matters for insurance, resale, and provenance documentation.

Select the grading company
Choose from PSA, BGS, SGC, JSA, Beckett Authentication, or enter a custom authority.

Enter the grade
Record the numeric grade or authentication designation exactly as it appears on the label or certificate.

Enter the certification number
The cert number is the unique identifier for a graded item. It can be used to look up and verify the grade independently.
Collector Tip
Certification numbers are the most important field for graded items. They make your records independently verifiable and significantly strengthen any insurance or authentication claim.
Save and review your item
Once you've filled in the details, save the item. It will appear in your collection immediately.

Review the entry
Scan through the fields before saving. Correcting a mistake now is faster than finding it later when your collection is larger.

Save the item
Click Save. The item is added to your collection and immediately included in your dashboard totals and value calculations.

View it in your collection
Navigate to your collection to confirm the item appears. You can edit any field at any time from the item detail view.
