    Importing & Exporting Your Collection

Relic Roster lets you import collection data using a CSV file and export your collection when you need a backup, insurance record, spreadsheet copy, or offline report.

Use the Relic Roster CSV template

Before importing your collection, download the CSV template provided inside Relic Roster. The template helps ensure your file is formatted correctly and includes the supported fields Relic Roster can recognize during import.

Using the template is the best option if you are:

    • Importing your collection for the first time
    • Moving data from another spreadsheet
    • Cleaning up an existing collection file
    • Unsure which columns to include
    • Trying to avoid import errors

You can open the template in Excel, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, or another spreadsheet editor.

    How the template works

Each row in the template represents one item in your collection. Each column represents a specific item detail, such as:

    • Item Name
    • Player Name
    • Team
    • Sport
    • Category
    • Year
    • Condition
    • Authentication Company
    • Certification Number
    • Grading Company
    • Grade
    • Purchase Price
    • Estimated Value
    • Date Acquired
    • Purchased From
    • Storage Location
    • Notes

You do not need to fill in every column. Leave any fields blank if they do not apply to the item.

    Before uploading the template

Before importing your completed CSV file, check the following:

    • Keep the original column headers in place.
    • Use one row per collectible.
    • Do not delete the header row.
    • Leave unused fields blank instead of removing columns.
    • Save or export the file as a .csv.
    • Review dates, prices, and certification numbers for accuracy.

For best results, avoid changing the template column names unless you are sure the new names are supported.

    CSV format requirements

Relic Roster imports CSV files. A CSV file is a spreadsheet-style file that stores data in rows and columns.

    Accepted format

    collection-import.csv

    The import file should include:

    • One header row
    • One collectible per row
    • Clear item details in each column
    • CSV file format

If your file is currently saved as .xlsx, .numbers, or another spreadsheet format, export it as a CSV before uploading.

    Common import issues

    My file will not upload

Make sure the file is saved as .csv. Files such as Excel, Numbers, PDF, or image files may not upload correctly.

Some fields did not import correctly

Use the Relic Roster template whenever possible. If you changed column names, restore the original template headers and try again.

    Prices look incorrect

For purchase price and estimated value fields, use numbers when possible.

    Dates look wrong

    Use a consistent date format.

    Recommended

    Some rows are missing information

Blank fields can usually be left empty. You can edit item details later after the import is complete.

    Exporting your collection

You can export your collection when you want a personal backup or offline copy of your records.

    Exports are useful for:

    • Insurance documentation
    • Personal records
    • Estate planning
    • Sharing with an appraiser
    • Reviewing your collection in a spreadsheet
    • Keeping an offline backup

Your export may include key item details such as item name, player, category, authentication details, grading details, purchase price, estimated value, storage location, and notes.

Can I edit items after importing?

Yes. Imported items can be edited after they are added to your collection. You can update item details, add images, include authentication records, adjust estimated values, add notes, and improve the item record over time.
